(Note: This was the 100th post on my original blog!)
On Friday I went to my two year check-up at the Celiac Center at Columbia, and was so happy that the appointment went well. After my mom and I decided to spend the day in the city. We literally went all over, but it was so much fun to spend the day with her. It was a day that I especially needed, after the tough week I had. It was truly a wonderful day.
Our first stop,Tu-Lu’s Gluten-Free Bakery! I had been there once before with my dad and we enjoyed delicious paninis. However, although my mom has enjoyed treats from Tu-Lu’s she has never visited the bakery. This is something she loves to do. We picked up some delicious gluten-free/ dairy-free treats to take home!
We then took the subway to our next Stop, Lilly 57. We met up with my brother, who is doing an internship in NYC and enjoyed a great dinner.
This restaurant participates in the gluten-free restaurant program, and has an extensive gluten-free menu. I enjoyed the balsamic teriyaki grilled Salmon with steamed vegetables and brown rice. It was delicious! My only recommendation is if you go to this restaurant and order appetizers with your meal I would suggest that you ask your server to wait to bring out your meal, because the service is fast!
We even received a complementary g-free dessert after we enjoyed our meal. We all had a little taste (because we were super full), and then it was off to our third and final stop. The theater!!
My dad surprised my mom and I with tickets to see Sister Act, and luckily we were able to get my brother a ticket! (Sadly my dad had to work.) The show was great. Truly a funny, upbeat and a “feel good” broadway show. We all loved it.
Now on a side note: I can’t believe that this is my 100th post today. Where has the past few months gone?! It has been quite a new and exciting journey that I am excited to continue on.
